Financial Accountant – 12 Month FTC

These guys are literally responsible for keeping New Zealand moving – from city streets to airport runways, they’re laying down the asphalt that keeps us all connected. And behind every high-vis boot and hard hat? A finance superhero making sure the numbers add up. That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join the team on a 12-month maternity cover. You’ll love diving into the details, but also enjoy collaborating across the business to help solve problems and keep everything running smoothly.

The Role:
As the go-to finance person, you’ll own the day-to-day finance function and help shape the company’s financial story. On a typical day you might:

• Pull together accurate month-end and management reports
• Build budgets and forecasts that actually make sense
• Keep the general ledger and cost centres squeaky clean
• Ensure suppliers get paid, and customers pay on time
• Reconcile bank accounts, manage cashflow, and process journals
• Handle GST and FBT returns (our systems make it simple)
• Partner with operational teams and the wider finance crew
• Support and guide the payables/receivables team

About You:
You’re technically solid but approachable, with a knack for both numbers and relationships. Ideally, you’ll have:

• 5+ years’ experience as a Financial Accountant
• Exposure to construction, manufacturing, or other fast-paced industries
• Strong Excel skills – formulas, pivot tables etc
• Strong understanding of NZ accounting standards and compliance
• Expertise in reporting, analysis, and cashflow forecasting
• Attention to detail and confidence to challenge the status quo
• CA/CPA qualification (or working towards it) is a plus
