About Keystone Trust
HOME Recruitment are proud to partner with Keystone Trust in supporting them with the hiring into their small, tight knit and high-impact team. Keystone Trust supports students from financially challenged and diverse backgrounds into tertiary study for a career in property and construction.
Keystone Trust partner closely with top industry employers and bodies ensuring their support (which consists of not only scholarships, but ongoing mentoring, networking and employment opportunities) aligns with current industry needs and trends, preparing students and young professionals for successful careers in property and construction in New Zealand.
And with all this in mind, we’re looking for a Student Support Manager to lead the pastoral care and student experience of our scholarship programme.
About the Role
- Auckland CBD, sharing offices with one of their key partners
- Permanent, part-time role – 25 hours/week with flexibility of office working hours, opportunity for additional hours at peak times throughout the year in an ad hoc capacity
- Ideally working in the office on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to collaborate with the rest of the team.
Student Management – approx. 75% of this role
- You’ll be the first point of support for our students — guiding, mentoring, and connecting them with the tools they need to thrive and maximise the opportunity of the scholarship.
- Your “student portfolio” is approx. 72 students, placed in universities and tertiary providers throughout New Zealand, some require more support than others and you’ll need to ensure you have exceptional time management to service their needs.
- Managing the “buddy and mentor” programme is a key component to this role – often mentors require administration assistance around background vetting during their onboarding process, diary management and accountability of updating file notes for each student throughout the year.
- You’ll build strong relationships across in person, phone, written and virtual channels to ensure you’re connected with your student group.
- Identify and escalate “at risk students” working closely with the GM of Keystone to ensure a solution is reached as soon as possible.
- Success is measured through improvement of retention and students reaching graduation.
Tertiary Provider and Employer Liaison – approx. 15% of this role
- Building strong relationships with tertiary providers and industry partners is critical to the success of the role and our students – ensuring they’re staying on track and successfully transition into the workforce.
- Work closely with the Keystone Trust team to coordinate and facilitate work experience opportunities with key partners and sponsors
Other – approx. 10% of this role
- Be part of the annual selection process for the “Study Award” programme
- Work closely with the rest of the team for events and networking opportunities
About you
✔ 5+ years’ experience working with youth (education, social work, counselling, or similar)
✔ You’ll have life experience to understand and relate to a range of backgrounds – our students are a wide mix of cultures, ages and previous work experience so you’ll need the maturity to navigate that with ease!
✔ Excellent relationship-building and communication skills – you’ll also be someone who is able to work effectively in a small organisation adjusting to change, engaged in new ideas for improvement and delivering exceptional results!
✔ Cultural competence and awareness, especially with Māori and Pasifika communities
✔ Strong organisational and administration skills – in a small team, there are often parts of the role that “just need to be done”, you’ll not be precious about helping out the team wherever the pressing need is at the time even if “it’s outside your job description”.
